Welcome!
You may be at UWA for an education but while you’re
here why not enjoy yourself a bit? Societies Council is the
Guild subcouncil that helps promote a vibrant social student
life on campus. Whether it’s through the 100+ diverse
Guild-affiliated clubs and societies or the events and support
we provide on campus, Societies Council helps make UWA the most
fun and memorable time of your life! From electronic music to
French, from waterslides to pumping parties, there is a club
for almost anything; even Perth’s longest running
registered children’s charity. And if you can’t
find the perfect club for you, well why not start your
own!
SOC aims to ensure that each club on campus is trained and
supported in the general running of their club. Whether
it’s organizing an event or constructing a Club
Constitution, we’re here to help. We offer semester and
O-Day grants to clubs and many other services, including the
club resource room to facilitate this.
You can find my partner in crime, Lewis Richards the PAC
President, and myself in our office on the first floor in the
Guild Building if you have anything else we can help you
with.

FAWA has now moved its Crackin' Croquet event to Thursday 17th May.
If you're looking to celebrate the end of mid-semester exams, or need a break from cramming for finals then FAWA invites you to come down, let it all go and try your hand at a crackin' ole game of croquet!
We will be playing at the Nedlands Croquet Club (around the corner from UWA) on the 17th May. Drinks, food and all the equipment you need are provided.
The lovely folk of Nedlands Croquet will be passing on all their years of wisdom at the beginning of the session. So get down on time if you wish to start off mildly competitive, as no doubt the quality of play will deteriorate into the night. Croquet is fun, easy to play and the only sport to boast a current world champion that is 75 years old. If their arthritic bodies can do it, so can yours!
Tickets are on sale from Monday, 7th May in the UWA Business School Common Room 1pm-2pm.
Tickets are limited so be sure to get in early!

PERFORMANCE The vocal program at The School of Music, UWA Presents "The Mikado - in absentia"Fri 18 May 7:30 pm — 9:00 pm, Callaway Music Auditoriumconcerts@uwa.edu.au

What happens when you have a show needing a chorus of men and five major male leads, but only five men and not a tenor in sight, too many women who are all suitable to sing the two major women leads, no budget, no sets, no props, a bare music auditorium and a grand piano?
Answer. UWA Vocal Students condensed version of Gilbert & Sullivan's The Mikado.
Arguably the most popular Gilbert & Sullivan opera of all time, this is a Mikado with a difference. Watch as the Mikado never appears. Be stunned at the multi-personalities of Yum Yum, Nanki Poo, as you've never seen him before, Pooh Bah from Glasgow, and Katisha "the cougar". Be amazed at how great the men's chorus sounds ... with women. Look out for the next Lord High Executioner - will it be you?
Witty dialogue, new narration, stunning music, and fresh and eager young voices. Why haven't you booked your seat already?
A Mikado not to be missed.
