Financial Help

The Guild recognises the financial issues faced by students. As part of its support services to students, the Guild has developed Guild Financial Assistance – a program aimed at providing a wide range of financial supports to students. This program is governed by the Guild and delivered by the Guild Education Officers. It includes information about many financial matters, links to other financial supports and also provides direct financial aid in the form of interest free loans and grants. Some of the key elements of the program are listed below. To find out more about any of these, simply click the link more info.. to go to a more detailed explanation of each element of the program.

  • Financial Counselling – for when you need to talk about your financial situation, find out about what supports/avenues may be available and perhaps get some help negotiating with organisations that you owe money to - more info...

  • Centrelink – we have direct access to Centrelink policy officers and experience in dealing with this very large agency. • Interest Free Loans – the Guild has two types of interest free loans – a small, quickly repaid emergency loan up to $100 and a year long loan for up to $600. We are also able to help you access the government’s No Interest Loan Scheme - more info...
  • Guild Grants – this scheme provides direct support to students in the form of a grant that does not need to be repaid. The grants are available for all essential living costs such as food, rent, medicine, childcare, utility bills and much more. It is also proudly supported by the Coop Bookshop (for over a decade) and can be given to relieve some of your textbook costs- more info...
  • Other Financial Help – we receive information and direct support from other agencies all the time – so in addition to the direct support provided by the Guild, we can provide you with information about other loans and grant schemes, scholarships and direct aid programs - more info...
