The Queer Department (formerly known as the Alternative Sexuality Information Department) provides social and supportive network for those on campus who identify their sexuality as alternative. Dealing with one's sexuality and its wider social implications is one of the hardest land things individuals and the larger society have to come to terms with. That is why the Queer Department is so important to gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (GLBT) students on campus, whether they declare their sexuality open at UWA or not. There are people here who have been through it all before and won't hesitate to help you 'out'. We have a swish looking room located on the second floor at the end of the corridor of the Guild Building, a non-judgemental space with plenty of resources available. The Queer Department also runs a number of events through the year, including workshops, Pride Week on campus, visibility campaigns and are part of the "intercampus queer" the collaboration of sexuality departments from Curtin, Murdoch, TAFE and Edith Cowan. This is your opportunity to meet like-minded people, find out where you can get support if you need it and have your voice heard on campus!
