All postgraduate students become members of the PSA upon enrolment. The PSA represents postgrads within the University’s committee system from the Senate down to the faculty level. The PSA is affiliated to the national postgraduate body, CAPA. The PSA is run by a committee elected at the end of November each year.
The PSA Lounge is located on the first floor of the south wing of the Guild Building, in room 1.05. The Lounge is available free of charge for postgrads to use for seminars and discussion groups. Bookings can be made at the Guild Student Centre. A computer with a printer and internet access is available for students wishing to print. Simply provide your own paper and get the key from the Guild Student Centre.
The PSA holds a number of events throughout the year including Research Week, Careers Week, sundowners, cocktail parties, afternoon teas, a quiz night, and sports day. The PSA also offers Conference Travel Awards valued at $500 each semester, and runs a grants scheme for postgraduate small group activities.
The PSA publishes our magazine, Postscript, thrice yearly. It’s delivered to your door, so keep an eye out! We also send out a weekly electronic newsletter which is used to advertise upcoming events and provide information from the University and outside sources, usually in relation to conferences, the availability of travel awards, and seminars being held by student services. You can sign up to the email list at: http://maillists.uwa.edu.au/mailman/listinfo/postgrad
The PSA hosts a website which is updated regularly and contains information for upcoming events, the contact details of the PSA committee, helpful tips to postgraduates and information which postgrads might wish to download such presentations from Research and Careers Week. You can visit the PSA website at: www.psa.guild.uwa.edu.au
