The Enviro Collective is a group of fun environmentally friendly students working together to promote and nurture an improved environment. We, students from different faculties and backgrounds, campaign, design and participate in projects to make UWA greener. There are lots of things for students to do to improve the sustainability of UWA, and our planet.
The hottest issue of our generation is global warming. If we want to stop climate change we have to change the systems of our society, and university is a good starting point. I would like the Enviro Collective to link into wider community movements in this area as well as change the way the university operates. One idea may be to look at making the campus more carbon neutral.
In 2007 Environment Collective will be working on issues such as the lack of recycling on campus, addressing clean energy issues, and possible introducing a cheap organic fast food outlet on campus. However to create a lasting change on the above issues, mass support is needed!!! So if you have ever complained about the fact that you have to throw cans in the normal bin or that our uni is not using renewable energy, you have to do something about it!
Get active! Join Environment Collective and feel good about being part of a solution, as opposed to feeling guilt from being part of the pollution. You can also show your support or concern by dropping a note in our suggestion box on the Environment Collective Room door, 2nd floor Guild.
