The Guild Activities Department organises a wide range of social and cultural activities on campus. The Activities Officer helps students with their entertainment requirements with advice regarding organising functions, events, fundraisers, balls, concerts etc. If you need to get a PA or a Liquor License, or you’re not sure where to start, see the Activities Officer for help.
The Activities Officer also assists Guild Departments and Sub Councils with their Theme Weeks and events such as PROSH and Spring Feast (Multicultural Week), and is responsible for organising major events such as the O-Day Festival, End of Semester Shows, Oktoberfest, Guild Ball and weekly entertainment with Footy Tipping and the Tavern.
Speaking of the Tavern, local and national bands are featured every Friday afternoon and an ongoing DJ programme, where student DJs get to strut their stuff, runs on Wednesdays (12pm-2pm). If you would like to have a shot, drop into the Activities Office and register.
The Activities Officer also coordinates the National Campus Bands Comp (NCBC) for UWA. Heat dates are release near the start of the year with entry deadlines by the end of Semester one.
Tuesday hosts the ever-popular Market Days in Koort Kwoba Dandjoo (Guild Village Courtyard), so head down to pick up a bargain. Or if you want to set up a stall, the Activities Officer is the person to speak to.
For information about upcoming Guild and club events, please visit our events calendar online. To advertise in this calendar and in our weekly G-News e-mail, please read Advertising and Promoting in G-News for Clubs & Societies. Activities will also put up your posters around the Guild Village for the start of each teaching week. The deadline for posters is 4.30pm Thursday the week before.
